Microsoft FAST (Future Accelerated Skills Training)
Microsoft FAST provides an accelerated pathway to professional readiness and digital skilling, while also helping students to build a professional network and acquire applied work experience.
In partnership with Houston Ion, Univ. of St. Thomas, City of Houston, Chevron, Houston Community College, and other regional stakeholders, the Microsoft FAST program offers immediate up-skilling opportunities and provides a personalized road map to long-term career success.
Microsoft FAST participants are eligible for academic and technical certifications, E-badges, and university level course credit upon successful completion of program requirements.
Program Goals
- Build professional awareness – “What are my career options?”
- Foster realistic self-awareness – “Where I am today, where do I want to be in the future, and what do I need to do to get there?”
- Develop of essential professional, technical, and soft skills – “How can I acquire the in-demand skills that employers are seeking?”
- Secure a job – “How can I build my professional resume and get a job.”
- Create a path to higher education – “Why should I consider a four-year degree program or graduate school, and how do I prepare to take that step?

- Microsoft FAST Virtual Career Symposium (Teams Live event) – “Pathways to Career Readiness and Success”
- “Tech Tuesdays” On-Demand Professional Development Modules – resume building, interview skills, professional visibility, virtual learning and collaboration
- Students create an individualized Professional Development Plan
- Networking and mentorship supported by Microsoft, LinkedIn, City of Houston, Chevron, Kino-Eye Center, and other regional partners
- Internship and Project-based learning experiences
- E-badge/Certificate endorsed by Microsoft and approved by regional university partner
- Completion of 6 full Learning Pathways in Microsoft Learn or equivalent
